Over the last 10 years Dave has covered over 1,300 editorial and event photography assignments for a number of publications and media outlets across the country. While Dave enjoys capturing landscapes and still-life, his natural niche and passion is in documentary photography; capturing images of people, places, and things that tell a story. Documentary photography is used in a variety of ways and is most often seen through publications and as a part of corporate, non-profit, and small business branding.

While much of Dave’s work has been assignment-based, he enjoys traveling and documenting those adventures through the creation of imagery. He’s photographed across France, Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, and throughout the United States including several trips to New York City for street photography. But the reality is, with the right perspective, passion, and tools, documentary photography can be done in your own back yard. The key to being successful is a shift in photographic mentality, a solid understanding of camera settings, ability to think ahead, adaptability to change, and lastly, patience and understanding that spectacular images aren’t always the result of your efforts; but rather with each day you learn something new - that’s the most important take-away.

Each workshop not only provides photographers with subjects and scenes to captures, but also is designed to help participants understand key elements of photography: exposure, shutter speed, aperture, composition, rule of thirds, and which tools to use under certain circumstances.
